Della Lou Thomas

Life Reflections

Della Thomas was born on February 11, 1935 in Limestone County, to Mark and Ruby Lockhart.  Della attended Woodland High School and was a  head cook the majority of her life.

Della accepted Christ at an early age in which she loved listening to gospel music.

Della was a devoted and dedicated mother, first and foremost.  She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  She especially loved her role as Big Mama.  She has a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.  She made friends everywhere she went.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, garden and loved to go fishing until she became ill.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was always a joy to be with.

Della will join her parents Mark and Ruby Lockhart, her brothers James Lockhart and Sam Lockhart; sisters, Margie Cotton and Opal Rhodes; three great-great-great grandchildren Stephen Terrell D'Angelo Stewart, Demon Henderson and Royalty Mason Bell in heaven.

Della leaves to cherish memories four generations which include her four daughters;                   Lillie Jackson (Thomas) of Dallas, Texas, Eddie Mae Sims, Willie Pearl Davis of Teague, Texas and Mona Lesa McClenton of Kosse, Texas.  She also leaves behind one brother,  Joe Lockhart (Gloria) and sister, Ruby Lockhart of Mexia, Texas.  She leaves a host of 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
